Ray Gan

As an artist, i understand the importance of the moments we photograph and that they hold so much meaning now and years to come. It’s my privilege to be invited into your life, to document your unique connection with the people you keep close to your heart.

I’m an ‘available light’ photographer. That means that you’ll very rarely see me using flash. I’m after quality, not quantity of light. I find flash a bit intrusive. It screams ‘look everyone, there’s a photographer’. It can ruin the ambience of a room. Do I use it? Yes, if I have no choice. After all, available light also means any light that’s available. But I really prefer not to. ;p

I edit every photo myself. Again it’s about delivering my vision to my clients. They didn’t book me to have a faceless third-person edit the images. How can that person know what I was seeing? I spend the time needed to deliver the images intended. The moments as I saw and caught them.

I don’t direct. Moments happen. They’re real, they’re fleeting. Catch them well, and there’s nothing quite like it.
